September fixtures and news.

Dear Members,

What a summer. So many people have been enjoying the races! For those of you without the Frome Standard, here is a link to their piece about last Sunday. http://www.fromestandard.co.uk/Barlow-family-Frome-places-Shearwater-Sailing/story-19751196-detail/story.html

Important dates for your diary:

Sunday Sept 8th Junior Open. Be there in plenty of time for the first race at 11am. Cakes afterwards.

Friday 13th – Sunday 22nd September. Southampton Boat Show. Your chance to get a free ticket from me (and help Martin, Martyn and myself on the Mirror Dinghy stand) Details on www.sailpb.com

Sunday Sept 15th RNLI races 4,5 and 6. Well worth doing even if you missed the first three.

Sunday Sept 22nd Vets and Novices. ‘Vet’ = anyone over 45. Novice = anyone who has not yet won a trophy.  There are three races and this is always a great chance to race if you’re new to sailing, or old, or both!

Sunday Sept 29th Pursuit and Points Autumn Series. 11.00 and 13.15.

If the change in the weather is too much for you then Martin Honour has still got some gaps for you to fill on the duty rota. Don’t Panic – just do another duty.

Also, for your diaries,

The Dinner Dance and Prize Giving is on Friday 22nd November, 7pm – 11.30pm at ‘The Mill at Rode’

This is a lovely venue, with a great choice from the 3-course menu, room to dance, white tablecloths….Tickets are £25 for adults and £15 for those in full time education. They will be on sale early in October.

New Members we would like to know how it’s been for you this year please. We feel that we should have offered you a ‘sailing buddy’ or other personal contact in the club. Would this be useful? Have you any other suggestions please? I will be ringing you to find out what you think, but you could email me if you’d rather. When I joined it was Colin Newton who helped me when I capsized beside the pontoon on the first thrash. We hope everyone finds their ‘Colin Newton’!

See you on the water!

Peter, Commodore for 2013.
