Annual Dinner Dance and Awards Ceremony
| In addition to racing, there are Social events organised during the Sailing Season. We start the year with a pre-season working party day, where we do a spring clean on the clubhouse, the dinghy park and jetty. The season is then begun with a fitting-out supper, usually an informal meal followed by some entertainment eg. skittles, barn dance or quiz et.c. The club has an annual outing weekend, which recently took us all to Roadford Lake. There are barbeques, open events and our Annual Dinner Dance at which the trophies and glasses are awarded. Details of social events are on the club notice board, and also in the Club Log – see the LOG link on the menu. Open meetings are arranged, inviting other clubs to sail with us. These include :- West Wilts Youth Sailing Association (http://www.wwysa.org.uk/) Bristol Avon Sailing Club (http://www.bristol-avon-sailing.org.uk/) C.V.R.D.A.(http://www.cvrda.org) There is a ‘Social Member’ category with a lower subscription for those who may have discontinued active sailing but wish to remain involved with the sport & the social atmosphere of Shearwater Club. |
