Topper & Comet Open Meeting Saturday 12th April 2014

The Topper & Comet Open Meeting will be held at the Club on Saturday 12th April 2014. The briefing will take place at 10.15 am with the first race of three starting at 11.00 am with two to count. A Big Thank You

Thank you to all those who turned out for the two recent working parties, the weather was kind to us and much was done and it is now great to see the Club ready for the new season. I know that a number of Members were unable to attend due to other commitments but fortunately this year we have a third working party arranged for Saturday 10th May, so please make a note in your diary. Thank you to all those who supported the Fitting Out Supper + Barn Dance and in particular Raggle Taggle and Peter Barnes for the music and calling, Verity and Gavin Brewerton for manning the softs drinks ‘bar’, Deborah Rawson for selling raffle tickets and John Stuckey on the door.

First Thrash Sunday 2nd March 2014 – Average Lap Racing (ALR)

At our First Thrash on Sunday 2nd March and before we start racing in earnest, Chris Barlow our Sailing Secretary has kindly agreed to run through the running of Average Lap Racing (ALR) to enable OOD’s, AOOD’s and sailors to have a clearer understanding of how this operates. Chris will give this short review over lunch and those not sailing on the day may like to come along and join us for this.

Fitting Out Supper & Barn Dance Friday 28th February 2014

As last year was so successful our Fitting Out Supper will also include a Barn Dance with music provided by Raggle Taggle who were excellent last year together with our very own Caller and Rear Commodore Peter Barnes. The event will take place on 28th February starting at 7.30pm at Sutton Veny Village Hall. This is not far from Shearwater and has plenty of parking. Tickets are now on sale and include a meal with desert of sticky toffee pudding for £6 juniors and £12 adults. This is a wonderful family inclusive event and a great way of starting off our calendar for the year and fund raising for your Club which I hope you will support. As a fund raising event please feel free to bring along family and friends as we want to make this a successful and enjoyable evening.
